IO Interactive

IO Interactive , or IOI , is a company developer of video game in Denmark, created in September 1998, and mainly known to be the relative of the series of the Hitman.

History

Initially, IO Interactive is a Coentreprise between Nordisk Film & TV, production company, and Reto-Motor bike, developer of plays.

Their first title, Hitman: Hired killer , mixture of action and infiltration, distributed by Eidos Interactive in November 2000, was sold has more than 600.000 specimens. While this first opus aimed only the players PC, its continuation, Hitman 2: Silent Assassin , left in October 2002, was distributed also on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and, a little later, on GameCube, the principal consoles of the time, and reached the 3 million sold units. Then, in October 2003, IO Interactive leaves Freedom Fighters , a new series developed in collaboration with Electronic Arts which will be sold, in spite of the absence of 47 , up to 1 million copies. After this small interlude, the team continues her series, from now on celebrates, with the exit of the third episode, Hitman: Contracts , in April 2004, and 1,6 million past specimens.

Today, IO Interactive was repurchased by the group Eidos, one of the principal producers and developers of video games in the world, in March 2004 for the moderate amount of 23 million pounds sterling. Sum paid in cash and actions with, according to the performances, an additional payment of 5 million pounds sterling over four years.

Its network of development includes several companies of high technology, such as Microsoft, Intel, Sony, Nintendo, and even of the Université S. Its development team is composed programmers and mathematicians, as well as graphic designers and organizers being able to come from the industry of the video game or of schools of arts. Their technology is based on the Glacier Range Engine.
