The way of the line has goes from the extreme North of Manhattan, on the level of Inwood, the south of Brooklyn, the level of the Rockaway Line , while passing by the airport JKF. The line C follows the same course that the line has, but only on Manhattan, between Inwood and the EUCLID Avenue, located at the border between the Queens and Manhattan.

The line E, attached to the IND Eighth Avenue Line follows as for it a completely different course, it starts from Jamaica 179 St , in the Queens to join the World Trade Center with the Southern point of Manhattan. Only, a short portion is thus common to the lines has, C and E, between Times Square and the World Trade Center.
