IH Sung-gi
IH Sung Gi is a Chimiste Korean, born in 1905 with Damyang, in the province of Jeolla of the South, and deceased in 1996. Graduate in chemistry of the university of Kyoto in 1931, it developed in 1939 one of first synthetic fibers, the Vinalon.
In 1946, after the independence of Korea, it took part in the development of the university of Kyongsong, and was strongly opposed to the transformation of this university in the National university of Seoul, whereas the South Korea concerned the American military administration.
After the release of the War of Korea in 1950, professor Ri Sung Gi came to settle in North Korea to take part in the exploitation of its invention on an industrial scale.
IH received the Prix Lénine in 1962 and became the chief of the atomic Research institute North-Korean in June 1965. It took the direction of the branch of Hamhung of the Academy of Science North-Korean in 1984.
