ICC Trophy

The Trophy ICC or ICC Trophy is an organized international competition of Cricket every four years by the International Cricket Council. It is reserved to the associated members or affiliated to the ICC who can qualify themselves there by the means of tournament regional. The major nations of the world cricket, which have the statute of test, thus do not take part in this tournament.

Eight nations already gained it since its creation in 1979: the Sri Lanka, which are the only nation to have gained at the same time ICC Trophy and the World cup of cricket, the Zimbabwe, the United Arab Emirates, the Bangladesh, the Netherlands and the Scotland The Zimbabwe, before obtaining the statute of test, with gained the competition three times, which is the record of victories in the test.

Three of the former winners of the competition have the statute test today: the Zimbabwe, the Sri Lanka and the Bangladesh.

The last edition took place in 2005 in Ireland and was gained by the Scotland.

The best teams of the tournament qualify themselves for the World cup and gain the right to dispute matches of the type ODI between them and against the ten nations having the statute of test and the Kenya to the next trophy which will be held in 2009. Five in 2005, these certificates of merit will pass to six in 2009, since Kenya, which had obtained the right to a qualification of office for the World cup 2007 and the statute of ODI consequently occasion, will see its place given concerned in 2009.
