Iğdır

Iğdır is a town of Turkey, Préfecture of the Province of the same name, located at the Armenian border .

Before the exchanges of population imposed by the Treated of Lausanne in 1923, the area of Iğdır ethniquement and religieusement was very mixed. Today, the population is mainly made up of Turks sunnites and Shiite Azeris. As in other areas of Turkey, inhabitants of Iğdır emigrated in Western Europe, it exists about it in particular a colony with Brussels.
