Hyperhidrose

The hyperhidrose (of the Greek grc ἱδρώς which means “sweat”) is the medical term indicating a excessive Sudation. This pathology touches approximately 1% of the population, with a more or less raised degree, being more or less handicapping.

Treatments

There exist treatments different according to the localization from excessive perspiration. He is admitted by the whole of the medical community which one will have to always begin with the least aggressive treatment to pass to the following, if the first is not effective enough.

For the treatment of the armpits:

For the hands and feet:
  • it is sometimes proposed Hydrosal® Gel (freezing of Dr. Benohanian- Canada) (Salicylic acid: 4%, hexahydrate of Chloride aluminum: 15%, Excipient freezing hydroalcoolic: 81%) which is relatively effective.
  • It is in these localizations that iontophoresis gives its best results. To the price of meetings of maintenance, iontophoresis gives more than 85% of success, if this technique is carried out by respecting the recommended protocols and with a good apparatus.
  • In the event of failure, the botulinic toxin injections can be tested, by knowing that in France for these localizations, this practice is except AMM (not refunded) and that it must be carried out under the responsibility of the doctor, who practices it in hospital medium and under general anesthesia or loco-regional.
  • In the most resistant cases and most desperate, the recourse to the surgery is possible. It is unfortunately accompanied by side effects in more than 70% of the cases. Among these side effects most frequent is the compensation hyperhidrose (60% of the cases), which can be serious, more invalidating that localization of origin and irreversible (approximately 1% of the cases).

For the other localizations:

  • the treatment will be proposed on a case-by-case basis. For the diffuse forms, one will be able to use the Anti-cholinergiques which used well will give good performances.
