Hypercritical method
The hypercritical method is a method sales which is connected with the Sophisme, consistent in the systematic criticism of the least details of an opposite assertion. It is necessary well to distinguish the hypercritical method of the critical Pensée, which is precisely it on the contrary the judicious use of the Raison.
Principle
This method often sticks in the suspicieuse analysis and to load of a great number of unimportant details on a subject, in order to push back an unfavourable theory, and this very if the evidence brought by this one is not, they, negligible.
It is particularly used in all the forms of Négationnisme. Indeed, it allows, vis-a-vis indisputable evidence, to proceed to the Syllogisme according to:
- such details are disconcerting;
- thus all the explanation is false;
- thus the advanced evidence is refutations.
The hypercritical method is difficult to counter, insofar as it launches a great number of peremptory assertions (and rapids to be formulated), which require work in order to be checked.
The borderline case of this deformation of spirit is undoubtedly that of the Père Hardouin, this scholar undertaking who, at the 17th century, advanced that traditional Antiquité had had to be invented by monks of the Moyen-âge, since one had no former manuscript of it at that time.
