Hyoscyamine

The hyoscyamine is a Alcaloïde present in various plants of the family of the Solanacée S, in particular at the poisonous Solanacée S, Belladone, Jusquiame, Datura and Mandragore. Its name is related to the jusquiame besides (Latin scientist Hyoscyamus ). One of the commercial independent sources of hyoscyamine is the Duboisia myoporoides .

The hyoscyamine is the Ester of the left Tropic acid and the Tropanol. It is the Isomère Lévogyre of the Atropine. Like the latter, it has effects parasympathicolytic S (i.e. which are opposed to the action Nervous system Parasympathique) resulting in a Tachycardie, a Mydriase, a reduction in secretions (Salive, Sueur) and a deceleration of the intestinal transit time.

It acts by binding to the muscarinic receiving of the Acétylcholine in the central Nervous system and peripheral preventing thus the action of the Neurotransmetteur.
