Hyophorbe lagenicaulis
Also called palm tree bottle , the palm tree bottle ( Hyophorbe lagenicaulis ) is small a Palmier of the family of the Arecaceae , originating in the island Ronde, a dependence of Maurice.
Description
It is particularly resistant to the Cyclone S: the feather-grass is short and very solid mass, caractéristiquement reinflated in the shape of bottle, with a strong rooting on L plane horizontal. The sheets pennate, are bent and rigid with many broad sights laid out out of V opened upwards. the foliar green/brown sheath wraps only the narrow upper part of the feather-grass.It is in more one palm tree resistant to the dryness and which supports the spray or the cyclones more the violent ones without the least damage.
The growth is fast for a dwarf species but the trunk seldom exceeds the 3 or 4m. The fruits are in the olive shapes, and contain irritant crystals of Oxalate.
