Hymont

Hymont is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called Hymontais.

Geography

Hymont is located at 2 km of Mattaincourt and at 5 km of Mirecourt. It is a peaceful village. The houses are aligned there in edge of the road and the Willow. Houses, typically Lorraine (C. - with-D. with the broad carriage entrances between small windows, rather narrow but deep), the ones against the others are tight there. The roofs very often are supported by trunks of only one holding of the ground with the ridge.

History

The Roman way of Langres to Metz and Strasbourg crossed Hymont. The village seems owe its name with a Franc named Hindonis. A first text, in 1247, quotes it like possession of the duke of Lorraine. As much of village Lorraine, Hymont had to suffer from the wars which, more once, devastated the area. Formerly, this village was considered, like Mattaincourt and Mirecourt, for its cloths and its laces.
