Hygrophila polysperma

Hygrophila polysperma or Hygrophile Indian is a plant Palustre of fresh water with stem of the family of the Acanthaceae .

Origin

In a natural state, this plant meets in Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra.

Description

Hygrophila polysperma is composed of sheets lancéolées of tender color green to the brown red if the light is rather intense. The roots of this plant with stem push with all the nodes. Its growth is fast.

Maintenance

The height of the vat must be 40 cm minimum with a normal filtration and an intense lighting with very intense. It is a plant which needs Engrais from time to time but it is not demanding. The growth is of 10 cm per week.

Water must have a temperature ranging between 15 and 30°c with a HT of 4 with 20°f and a pH ranging between 6.5 and 7.2. This plant is easy of maintenance and adapts to all maintenances. It supports even cool water. Of this fact it is recommended to the beginners.

Maintenance

Its growth obliges with frequent cuttings under penalty of being invaded. It is then necessary to clear up it and étêter it regularly to prevent that it chokes the others. As its growth is considerable, it is recommended not to tighten the seedlings.

Multiplication

The multiplication is done by taking away of cuttings of a score of centimetres. As the sheets are dismantled downwards, it is advised to transplant and cut the stems then to replant the heads in order to always keep quite bulky seedlings.
