Hygrocybe cochineal

The hygrocybe cochineal (hygrophorus coccineus then hygrocybe coccinea ) is a Champignon Basidiomycète of the family of the Hygrophoraceae

Description

  • Hat 2 to 5 cm, conical then more spread out, bright red, viscous in weather wet
  • Blades spaced, red broadsides of yellow
  • Foot 3 to 6 cm, red, more clearly at the base
  • Flesh red-yellow, a little translucent
  • Odor and low savor

Habitat

Rather on released ground, in autumn, even at the beginning of the winter in the Mediterranean regions.

Edibility

The majority of the authors indicate it like edible without interest, in particular because of its low size. As it is not frequent, one will be able to be satisfied to admire his pretty colors.
