Hydrology

The hydrology is the science of the ground which is interested in the Cycle of water, i.e. to the exchanges between the atmosphere, terrestrial surface and its basement.

Under the exchanges between the atmosphere, and terrestrial surface, hydrology is interested in the Précipitation S (Pluie and Neige), in the perspiration of the plants and the direct evaporation of the surface terrestrial layer.

The hydrology of surface studies the Ruissellement, the phenomena of erosion, the flows of the River and the Inondation S.

The hydrology of subsurface or hydrology of the not-saturated zone studies the processes of infiltration, of flow of water and transport of pollutants through the unsaturated zone (still called Zone vadose). This zone has a fundamental importance because it constitutes the interface between the Water surfaces and depth.

The underground hydrology or Hydrogéologie relates to the resources of the basement, them Captage, their protection and their renewal.

The urban hydrology constitutes a “under-cycle” of water related to the human activity: production and distribution of the Drinking water, collection and purification of worn and rain water.

Although these fields are intrinsically related the ones to the others, it is useful to distinguish these various aspects from hydrology because the phenomena physical concerned differ largely between them, which implies scales of time distinct from several orders of magnitude.
