Hydrastis canadensis , or Hydraste of Canada , is an antiquated species of plants dicotylédones of North America of the family of the Ranunculaceae .
The flowers and the sheets are final. It is a long-lived species by a rhizome (underground stem). The flowers are trimères: the Sépale S are white null and void, helical cheesecloths. Its fruit is fleshy contrary to the others Ranunculaceae .
It is used in pharmacy because it produces a isoquinoléïque Alcaloïde: the Hydrastine vasoconstrictrice.
