Hyde Parker

Sir Hyde Parker (1739 - 1807), second wire of the Admiral Sir Hyde Parker, 5th Baronet (1714 - 1782), entered to the Royal Navy to an young age, and became lieutenant in 1758, after having passed most clearly from the beginnings of its service aboard ships of his/her father. Five years later it became Captain, starting from 1766 and a certain number of years which followed, it served in American water caribéennes and northern, being distinguished particulierment by breaking defenses from the North River with New York in 1776.

Its feats of arms on these occasions were worth to him to be made knight in 1779. In 1778, it took share with the forwarding of Savannah, and in the year which followed, its ship was tiny room to the state of wreck on the hostile coast Cuba innate. Its men managed nevertheless to cut off themselves, and were brought back healthy and safe. Parker was with his/her father with Dogger Bank, and with Richard Howe in the two actions of the Straits of Gibraltar. In 1793, hardly become Rear-admiral, it served under the orders of Samuel Hood with Corsica Toulon and in , and two years later, then Vice-amiral, it took share, under the orders of William Hotham, with the not-decisive actions of the March 13rd 1795 and of the July 13rd 1795. Of 1796 with 1800 it ordered in Jamaica and led with tact the operations in the the Caribbean.

In 1801 it was charged to order the fleet intended to break the Ligue of Armed Neutrality, with Horatio Nelson as second in command. Copenhagen, the primary goal of forwarding, fell at the time of the Bataille of Copenhagen the April 2nd 1801, during the wild attack of the squadron of Nelson. Parker, remained behind with the heaviest vessels almost did not take share there. Parker then hesitated to push front in the Baltic after this victory, decision which was severely criticized. Little time afterwards, it was pointed out, and Nelson succeeded to him. He died in 1807.

His/her son was Vice-amiral Hyde Parker, Sea Lord (1786 - 1854).
