Hwanghae

The Hwanghae is an area North-Korean, located at the south-west of the democratic Popular republic of Korea.

Belonging to the Eight provinces of historical Korea, at the time of the partition of Korea along the 38e parralléle, a small portion was ratachée with the South Korea and the northern part is divided since 1954 into two provinces, the Northern Hwanghae and the Southern Hwanghae, whose respective chief towns are Sariwon and Haeju.
