Events

September 4th: Ferdinand Ier Large the, king of Castille, makes the conquest of the León. The king Bermude III of León is killed in the battle:

the union of León, the Navarre and the Castille, prepared by Sanche III Garcia, is concretized by the marriage of Sancha, heiress of León and Ferdinand Ier de Castille.

September: Pons becomes Count de Toulouse (fine in 1060). He marries Almodis of Walk in 1040;
November 15th: Eudes II of Blois is beaten and killed by the duke Gothelon Ier de Lotharingie in the county of Bar;
Thibaud Ier becomes count of Blois (fine in 1089); Beginning of the reign of Harold Ier Rabbit-foot clover (Harefoot) in England, (end in 1040).

the Duchy of Bubble, resulting from the duchy of Low-Lotharingie, is set up in Sovereign state by the emperor;
Victoire of the Russians on the Petchenègues, which ensures peace during nearly 25 years, until the arrival of the Kiptchak, or Coumans, that the Russians call Polovtsy;
Geoffroi, abbot of Vézelay, reform the rule while taking as a starting point the uses of Cluny. To ensure the prosperity of the abbey, it makes write a collection of miracles (1037 - 1043) which affirms that the remainders of Holy Marie-madeleine rest in Vézelay. Pilgrims tributary of all Gaulle and the abbey becomes the starting point of one of the ways of Saint-Jacques-with-Compostelle.
