Hurricane Nate (2005)
The hurricane Nate was the 14th tropical Cyclone and the 7th hurricane of the cyclone season 2005 in the basin of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the first use of the name Nate for a tropical cyclone.
Chronology
Genesis
The August 30th 2005, a tropical Onde was formed close to the African coasts , accompanied by a zone of strong Convection. Moving towards the west, powerful the shearing of the wind disorganized the tropical Perturbation in formation. September 1st, the tropical Onde took a west-north-west direction. The September 3rd, it was divided into two parts. The northern portion passed between the Lesser Antilles and the hurricane Maria, the southern portion moved in the Caribbean Sea.Early the September 4th, the northern portion put in interaction with a broad zone of low pressures, centered halfway between the Bermuda and the Lesser Antilles septentrional. The weak shearing of the wind allowed the convection of redévelopper around the tropical Onde and to organize itself in bands. The September 5th with 18:00 UTC, the National Hurricane Center indicated the disturbance like Tropical depression n° 15 and located it at 305 nautical miles in the south-south-west of Bermuda. The depression moved towards the North-East, towards Bermuda.
Maturity
The September 7th 2005, the weak shearing of the wind allowed an intensification in Tropical storm 0:00 UTC, then in hurricane with 12:00 UTC with 225 nautical miles in the south-south-west of Bermuda. Nate was the name that one assigned to him.Late this evening, a broad zone of low pressures of high Altitude interacting with a hollow of average altitude created a corridor of winds of high-altitude on the trajectory of Nate, which passed from a speed of 10 km/h to 30 km/h. The September 8th, towards 12:00 UTC, Nate passed to 110 nautical miles to the south-east of Bermuda. Having exceeded the trough of low pressure, Nate undergoes a vertical shearing of the Vent growing, limiting its intensification. The September 9th with 0:00 UTC, the cyclone reached its maximum intensity, with winds supported with nearly 150 km/h (90 Mi/h). Nate turned towards the east-north-east and continued to accelerate its race, reaching 55 km/h sometimes.
Degeneration
The shearing of the wind and the dry air started to weaken Nate on the level of tropical storm on September 9th to 18:00 UTC. Shearing increased in front of a cold Front in approach. The September 10th, towards 18:00 UTC, which remained Nuage S convectifs had been dissipated. Nate became a depressionary system extratropical with 700 nautical miles of the the Azores, which amalgamated with weak a stationary face. Nate continued a displacement towards the North-East and was absorbed by a frontal zone the September 13rd 2005 with 0:00 UTC with 240 nautical miles with the north-north-east of the Azores.
