Hurricane Ernesto (2006)
The hurricane Ernesto is the 5th Tropical storm and the first hurricane of the cyclone season 2006 for the basin of the Atlantic Ocean. The name Ernesto had already been used in 1982,1988,1994 and 2000.
Chronology
During the third week of August 2006, a tropical Onde particularly marked was organized in the east of the Lesser Antilles in tropical Perturbation. The August 24th, towards 15:15 EDT, a reconnaissance flight detected there a cyclonic circulation closed on the surface, forming a Tropical depression.After having caused negligible damage in the sector of the Lesser Antilles, the depression moved towards the west above the Caribbean Sea. The August 25th, a reconnaissance flight detected constant winds of force Tropical storm on the surface. It thus was promoted his name Ernesto .
The August 26th, the cyclone intensified notably. The August 27th, towards 5:00 EDT, it became hurricane. After having crossed the extreme south-west of Haiti, it weakens in tropical storm. The August 28th, towards 12:00 UTC, it lands on Cuba close to Guantánamo.
The Tropical storm Ernesto progressed towards the Florida the August 29th after being weakened above Cuba. After having crossed Cuba, Ernesto moved the 29 towards the south of the Florida (south-eastern of the the United States) where it arrived the August 30th. The storm lost much of its force whereas it was in the mountainous regions in the east of Cuba.
The Tropical storm Ernesto, which weakened by reaching the coasts of Florida, was brought back to the row Tropical depression by the National center of the hurricanes in the United States. Ernesto, fifth tropical storm of the season in the Atlantic, reached Tuesday August 29th Florida, where it caused torrential Pluie S but did not transform itself into hurricane. It lost its statute of storm when the winds weakened to reach 56 km/h, passing below the minimum threshold of 63 km/h which defines a Tropical storm.
On the east coast, the Ernesto tropical storm took again forces in the Atlantique before returning to touch ground in the Caroline S early Friday the 1st er September in the morning, with Vent S of more than 100 km/h. The storm left some 200 mm of Pluie at certain places.
