Huon peninsula

The peninsula Huon is an important peninsula in the Morobe province, in the east of the New Guinea-News-Guinea. It owes its name with the French explorer Jean-Michel Huon de Kermadec. The peninsula is occupied by the Chaine Saruwaged whose culminating point is the Mount Sarawaged (4 121 m).

The area was the seat of engagements during the second world war in 1943 and 1944.
