Comments
This novel was written in 1898, i.e. after the assassination of the editor Hetzel and the wound of the writer by his nephew (see article Jules Verne). Consequently, Hunting for the meteor is deprived of ambient enthusiasm in the extraordinary Voyages. This novel is a criticism of pride, cupidity and capitalism (can be in connection with the momentary work of Verne to the Bourse), critical that Hetzel would not have allowed. Moreover, Verne criticizes itself there, qualifying French writer having a little too much imagination perhaps . This novel was stuffed faults (the author forgot to change season…) who later was modified by his son Michel Verne.
