The Hunan (湖南 Pinyin : hú' nán, southern of the lake ) is a Chinese province whose chief town is Changsha (长沙; pinyin : Chángshā). Its name comes owing to the fact that it is located at the south (南) lake (湖) Dongting (洞庭湖 pinyin : dòngtínghú).

Geography
Hunan is a Chinese southernmost province located at more than 1000 km of Shanghai, at 1200 km of Beijing and at 500 km of Canton. The Yangzi Jiang (or Chang Jiang, 长江) the cross-piece of is in north. The Chinese provinces close to Hunan are the Hubei, the municipality of the Chongqing, the Guizhou, the Guangdong and the Jiangxi as well as the autonomous province of the Guangxi.Hunan is between 109°-114° longitude Is and 20°-30° of Northern latitude.
