Hunald

Hunald or Hunaud (towards 705 - 769?), wire of the duke Eudes de Gascogne, it succeeds his father in 735. Disputing the division of the kingdom frankly with died of Charles Martel, it fights wire of this last, Pépin and Carloman, with the assistance of the duke Odilon of Bavaria and Grifon half-brother of Pip. In 743, it succeeds in seizing Chartres which it destroys by fire. In 745 the two brothers oblige Hunald to abdicate in favor of his/her son Waïfre. Constrained to withdraw itself with the monastery of the Ile de Ré, the duke is carried out after having punished cruelly, by bursting to him the eyes, his brother guilty Hatton to be remained faithful to Carloman and Pépin. Is this even Hunald which one will find with the head of the insurrection of the Aquitains in 769 at the beginning of the reign of Charlemagne? Always it is that this one was delivered to Charlemagne by Lupus, duke of the Gascons, at whom it had taken refuge. The history does not say which was the end of the duke of Aquitaine.
