Humppila

Humppila is a municipality south-west of the Finland, in the area of the Kanta-Häme. Historically, it marked the border between the Finland of South-west and the Häme. It largely agricultural, is deprived of lakes, and practically with équidistance of Loimaa (23 km) and of Forssa (21 km). It is pulled about besides between the influence of the two cities and the two areas.

The commune owes the essence of its development á the arrival of the railroad Turku - Toijala in 1876. Today, the city remains an important stop for the many trains using this line, but the station is more regarded only as one simple stop since the closing of the sale of tickets in 2000. The journey time towards Turku is one hour, for 52 minimum minutes towards Tampere.

Of 1898 with 1974, Humppila was the starting point of the railway of Jokioinen, 22 km with spacing reduced until á Forssa, now transformed (for the always existing part) sees museum of it.

Like good number of small parishes having lost their church of wood in a fire, Humppila was seen equipping with an important church national romanticism (Josef Stenbäck, 1922).

Industry forever known here a significant development, the principal private employer being currently a glassmaking Hackman group. The number of employment provided by the secondary industry is comparable with that of the primary sector, the two figures being each one slightly lower than 20% of the total employment provided for Humppila.

The village, located near the intersection of the main roads n°2 (Pori - Helsinki) and n°9 (E63 between Turku and Tampere), is practically at equal distance from the two big cities of South-west: Turku is with 89 km and Tampere to 82 km. Helsinki is to 138 km, Pori with 111 km and the provincial capital Hämeenlinna to 78 km. The communes bordering are Forssa in the east, Jokioinen in the south, Ypäjä in south-west, Loimaa in the west (Finland of South-west), Punkalaidun in the North-West and Urjala in north (2 in the Pirkanmaa).
