See also: Habitat
One indicates by human habitat the mode of occupation of space by the man for functions of Logement. One speaks thus about individual habitat, collective habitat, grouped habitat, dispersed habitat… And, by extension, the whole of housing conditions.
- Individual Habitat: it is about the shelter of only one family (one-family house) having in general of a certain number of private spaces, of a garden, a terrace, a garage… It can be presented into two, three, or four frontages.
- Habitat semi-collective: this habitat is also called intermediate habitat and tries to give a grouping of dwellings the greatest number of qualities of the individual habitat: private garden, terrace, garage, personal entry,… It is in general denser but ensures the intimacy as well as possible. It is characterized by a maximum height of three stages.
- Collective Habitat: The collective habitat is the densest habitat, it is in general in urban area, develops in height in general beyond R+4. Collective spaces (space of parking, green area surrounding the buildings, stair-wells, elevators,…) are divided by all the inhabitants; the individualization of spaces starts at the entry of the housing unit.
