Hulsel

Hulsel is a village of 710 inhabitants (2006) in the commune of Reusel-In Mierden, in the province of the Brabant-Septentrional to the Netherlands.

Geography

The village of Hulsel, with its hamlets De Hoef , Vooreind , and Heikant , form the north-eastern part of the commune. Hulsel is about halfway between the villages of Reusel, Hooge Mierde, Lage Mierde, Netersel and Bladel. Hulsel is more the small village of the four villages composing the commune of Reusel-In Mierden.

History

Hulsel is mentioned for the first time in 710 in the form Hulislaum , when the borough belong to a donation of Bertilinde, girl of Wigibald, with Willibrord, abbot of the Benedictine abbey of Echternach in Luxembourg and first bishop of Utrecht. The village of Hapert, to 6 km, also formed part of this donation.

The administrative unit between Hulsel and both Mierden goes up at least until the middle of the 18th century. This unit lasted until 1997, year of the fusion of Hooge in Lage Mierde with Reusel.

Today

Nowadays, Hulsel knew to maintain its character primarily agricultural. The village is equipped with a rich person community life, but hardly any more counts of trade.
