Huguette Dreyfus

Huguette Dreyfus is a Claveciniste French born with Mulhouse on November 30th 1928.

Biography

Huguette Dreyfus begins its studies of piano at the four years age. In 1946, she works with Lazare Levy. In 1950, having learned that Norbert Dufourcq gave a special course on Johann Sebastian Bach at the time of the biencentenaire of its death, in the class of history of the music of the Conservatoire Higher National of Music of Paris, it enters this class and remains four years there. She studies in parallel the harpsichord with the Académie Chigiana of His, with Ruggero Gerlin, itself raises Wanda Landowska. A few years afterwards, it gains the international contest of harpsichord of Genoa in 1960, and becomes one of the figures impossible to circumvent of the rebirth of the old music, contributing little by little to a true renewal of popularity of the harpsichord in France. The inimitable elegance and the quality of its play accompany a delicate sensitivity, a depth of feeling whose its music is nourished.

Its favorite instrument is a harpsichord of Hemsch, celebrates German Facteur of harpsichords which worked in Paris and whose instruments, among best built at the XVIIIe century, are often considered of a quality equal to those of Blanchet, of which it has an original instrument.

She taught with the Schola Cantorum, with the Sorbonne in Paris, CNSMD of Lyon. She also taught within the framework of the International Academy of Organ and old music of Saint-Maximin-the-Holy-Balsam, and with the Academy of Old Music of Villecroze. In this respect, quality and the significant number harpsichordists who claim themselves of his teaching is eloquent, such as Christophe Rousset, Olivier Beaumont, Jory Vinikour, Yannick the Strapping man, Noëlle Spieth. She belongs to the jury of the International Contest of Harpsichord of Paris.
