The seigniories of Hugues, Prince de Coligny, extended on all Revermont, in particular on Coligny-le-Neuf, Marboz, Treffort, Saint-Andre-on-Suran, Châtillon-of-Crow, Varey, Saint-Sorlin etc It is him which made build the castle of Coligny-le-Neuf.

In the charter of donation that Hugues made in favor of the Chartreuse de Portes (in the Bugey), vers1190-1200 (perhaps before leaving for the Croisade), it is known as: “Dominus Hugo de Coloniaco, miles, magnificus princeps Coloniensis , denied Deo and fratribus Portarum pro remedio animæ suæ ac parentum suorum, quicquid habebat in eremo Portarum, and quicquid of feudatariis illius dono vel emptione acquirere potuerunt. ” What results in: “The lord Hugues de Coligny, knight, splendid prince de Coligny , gives to God and the brothers Doors, for the safety of his heart and that of his parents, all that it has in the desert of Doors, and all that the brothers will be able to acquire, by gift or purchase, of its feudatories”.

Donation with the abbeys

The crusade

  • prince de Coligny was knight.
