Hugues II of Campdavaine
Hugues II of Campdavaine († in 1130 or 1131), was Count of Saint-pol. of 1083 to 1118, after knowing succeeded his/her brother Guy died without posterity.
He was the son of Hugues I {{er}} and of Clemence.
The pope Gregoire VII, the November 25th 1078, qualified three wire of Hugues, Guy, Hugues and Eustace, Counts of Saint-pol..
Biography
Having accompanied with Enguerrand, its son, the year 1096, Robert Courteheuse, Duke of Normandy, with the First crusade, it was distinguished with the Siège from Antioche. It went up among the first to the attack of Jerusalem. It lost his son, who was killed in front of Marah. They were the heroes of the chanson de geste the song of Antioche made up at the beginning of XIIe century by the Richard pilgrim.On its return, it took the weapons for the Count de Hainaut against Robert II, Count de Flandre.
It had also to fight the successor also of Robert II, Baudouin with the Axe. In 1115, this last took the castle of Ink to him, of which it made gift with Charles of Denmark, his/her cousin. In the year 1117, it was the castle of Saint-pol. which was removed to him. But, little time after, it returned this last to him at the request of the Count de Boulogne.
After the death of Baudouin to the Axe, it entered the league formed by Clémence of Burgundy, the widow of Robert II, having for goal to exclude Charles from Denmark of the County from Flanders, and to put at it at its head Guillaume d' Ypres. Charles triumphed over all confederated and having entered the county of Saint-pol., it shaved all the fortresses of them and forced the count to ask him peace. It was granted to him on the condition of returning in the mobility of the Flanders from which its predecessors had freed themselves.
Family and descent
His first wife was Elisende de Ponthieu, girl of Enguerrand II, count de Ponthieu and of Aumale, and Adele of Normandy. He married it before 1091 and had as children:- Enguerrand, died at the time of the First crusade in Marah in Palestine.
- Hugues III, which succeeded to him.
- Béatrix of Saint-pol., become heiress of the county of Amiens, deferred it in the house of Boves by marrying Robert, second wire of Thomas de Marle.
According to a historian, named Of Cange, (handwritten History of Amiens), Hugues II married in second wedding Marguerite de Clermont, countess of Amiens widowed of Charles of Denmark. They had:

According to other historian Marguerite de Clermont would have married with Thierry of Alsace.
