Hugues Aufray

Hugues Aufray (born Hugues Auffray , the August 18th 1929 with Neuilly-sur-Seine) is a Chanteur French. Often poetic, its songs evokes the voyages, the friendship, fraternity, the tolerance. He is the brother of the actress Pascale Audret (1936 - 2000).

Biography

After three last years with Madrid where his/her father lived, Aufray gains France and starts to sing in Spanish, then very quickly interprets the songs of Felix Leclerc, Georges Brassens, Serge Gainsbourg, etc Gaining of the contest Numbers 1 of Tomorrow , it is noticed by Eddie Barclay which makes him record its first disc in 1959.

Author of many songs of which it carries out sometimes arrangements or the music, it Co-will sign some much with the lyric writers Vline Buggy and Pierre Delanoë, but also Jacques Plante, Claude Morgan, etc Hugues Aufray also draws his repertory in the Folklore Spanish, Anglo-Saxons and Latin-American, like in the Blues and the rock'n'roll. In 1964, Hugues Aufray represents Luxembourg with the Concours Eurovision of the Song; he is classified 4th with his song " As soon as spring returns ".

Its songs belong to the French cultural heritage , one finds them in many notebooks of songs and they are taught in the schools. Some among most known of the French songs, like Stewball or Santiano , are adapted of a American Chant of sailors.

He was the first French to discover Bob Dylan and to adapt the songs of them. The translations of Anglo-Saxon texts, in particular those of Bob Dylan, often edulcorate the crudeness of the original text. The musical arrangements which make the good share with the acoustic guitar indicate an influence of the American folk.

It shares its life between its house in the neighborhoods of Paris and its farm of the Ardèche. Impassioned horsemanship it created equestrian spectacles (Riders without borders), of the training courses of horsemanship for children and a ranch in the Alps. It was much interested also in the veil and devotes part of its repertory to the sea and the sailors.
