Hugo Loetscher
Hugo Loetscher is a German-speaking Switzerland writer, born the December 22nd 1929 with Zurich.
Biography
He studies political sciences, the history of the economy, sociology and the literature with Zurich. He continues his studies of philosophy to Paris then voyage in Latin America, in the Far East, in the United States and in Brazil, with which, he nourishes a privileged relation with Brazil. Since 1956, he works like literary criticism with the Weltwoche and NZZ . From 1958 to 1962, he is literary writer with the magazine .
From 1964 to 1969, he is writer of the cultural pages and member of the drafting of the Weltwoche . Since 1969, he works as independent, critical writer and political journalist with NZZ (Neue Zürcher Zeitung), the Tagesanzeiger , for the radio, television and several magazines. Since this date, he writes many novels of which several are translated into French, most known is the Sewers (Die Abwässer).
From 1986 to 1989, he was president of the Association of the Swiss writers. Since 2004, he is citizen of honor of his town of origin Escholzmatt (Canton of Lucerne).
