Hubert Giraud

Hubert Giraud , born in 1920 with Marseilles, is a French lyric writer and type-setter.

Biography

Hubert Giraud loses his father when it is five years old and this painful event makes it asthmatic. With a therapeutic aim, the doctor advises to him the practice of a instrument wind and the Hubert young person chooses the harmonica.
It is thus as a harmonicist that it is engaged to play with the Quintette of Hot Club of France of Django Reinhardt towards the end of the Années 1930.
In 1941, it enters the orchestra of Ray Ventura which requires of him to learn how to play of a second instrument. Giraud chooses the guitar. The orchestra leaves for several years in South America and Giraud will impregnate exotic rates/rhythms which it will be able to retranscribe later in many of its works. On its return, six years later, it is engaged in the orchestra of Jacques Hélian. It creates then its own group, the trio Do D Semi but it is especially the composition which attracts it, it to what it will devote and give best itself.

One of the largest French melodists

Giraud obtains its first success in 1950 while composing, with words of Roger Lucchesi, Aimer as I love you for the homonymous interpreter Yvette Giraud.
Always in 1950, it is combined with Jean Dréjac which will prove to be one of the most talented authors of its time. They write the song-topic of film of Julien Duvivier Under the sky of Paris (1951). The song with the title éponyme is created in film by Jean Bretonnière before being begun again by Anny Gould. But this work will take its international dimension and will become a emblematic image of Paris and France thanks to singers who will walk it on the scenes of the whole world: Companions of the Song, Jacqueline François, Juliette Gréco (Video), Yves Montand and Edith Piaf.
