Huaso (1933 - August 24th 1961), was a Cheval of known Saut of obstacles to hold since 1949 the world records height associated with the Chilean rider Alberto Larraguibel.

Biography
Initially named Faithful , it began its career in the races, without obtaining results because of its great nervousness and its unsubdued nature. After six years of total failure, it was bought by the captain Gaspar Lueje to try to educate it like horse of raising. But at the beginning of its drive, it was victim of a serious accident. Faithful successful to recover but there remained to him a light boitery of posterior the left which put it except play for this discipline.Thus, it was put at the drive for the jump of obstacle but its lack of docility its nervousness made it difficult to control. At the time of a contest, it was run away while jumping over a wall of more than two meters in height. At this point in time it was located by a Master of horse of the army which immediately decided to buy it and to intend it for the test power (height).
The horse was taken in an academy of cavalry of the army, in the town of Quillota and was entrusted to the captain Alberto Larraguibel for its formation. It is at that time that it was called Huaso. It was involved specifically during more than two years for the world records.
February 5th, 1949, horse and rider were ready. The tests were tried with Viña del Mar with the Chile. Huaso crossed a obstacle of 2,47 m to the third test, the world records was beaten. The committee of the records ratified that of Huaso and Alberto Larraguibel the May 28th 1949 and ruled that the new height to cross to beat this record would be of a minimum of 2,49 Mr.
When it beat its Huaso record was already 16 years old, very advanced age for a result of this width. After this record, the horse was withdrawn from the competition and was assembled never again. He lived freely until he died naturally on August 24th, 1961, at the 29 years age. Huaso is buried with the same academy of cavalry where it spent its last years.
