Hoyoux
Hoyoux is a river of Belgium affluent of the Meuse which takes its source with Verlée in the Province of Namur, at an altitude of 290 meters and is thrown at an altitude of 85 meters in the Meuse with Huy (city thus named starting from the root of the name of the aforesaid the river).
With height of Modave, it engages in a deep valley directed towards North in direction of Huy. It is while descending in this valley that it acquires the fastest flow of all the rivers of Belgium.
Grown bigger by the brooks of Fontenoy, Last nines Mill, Pailhe, Good, Vyle, Saint-Pierre, Triffoy, Lilot and the Fund of Wavelinse, it sprinkles in particular the localities of Small-Avin, Avins, Modave, Pont of Good, Vyle-and-Tharoul, Marchin and Vierset-Barse.
The surface of its catchment area is of 255 km ² and its course extends at a distance from 28 km.
Flow
The medium flow of the river measured with Marchin (catchment area of 239 km), commune of Huy, between 1989 and 2003 is of 2,0 m ³ a second. During the same period one recorded:
- an average maximum of 2,6 m ³ in 2001.
- an average minimum of 0,9 in 1997.
