Howard Scott Gentry

Howard Scott Gentry (1903 - 1993) is an American botanist specialist in the Agave S.

Gentry off works for the United States Department Agriculture (the equivalent of the Ministère of agriculture) and, starting from 1971, he is researcher with the Desert Botanical Garden Phoenix (Arizona). The Huntington Botanical Gardens of San Marino in California ensures the conservation of many species which he discovered.

Its study of 1942 on the plants of the area of Río Mayo in the North-West of Mexico City became a reference.

The searchs for Gentry are not limited to the purely botanical aspects, it is also interested in the Ethnobotanique and it always supplements its descriptions of plants by information on their uses by the people autochtones of the America S.
