House of the metallurgy

The Maison of the Métallurgie of Liege recalls in 9 rooms the history of industries and the techniques, articulated on three major topics: data-processing metallurgy, energies and .

It presents in particular a Walloon heavy forging and an authentic iron and steel whole of the 17th century and 18th century, oldest Haut-fourneau of Belgium (1693), but also a furnace with zinc: the bath-tub of voyage out of zinc of Napoleon throne in one of the rooms. The room devoted to the modern Sidérurgie points out the various stages of the manufacture of sheet steel.

The House of the Metallurgy is installed in an old factory founded in the district of Longdoz in 1846 by D. Dothée for the Laminage of the Fer and the manufacture of the Fer-blanc. Only the current building of the museum remains of the old factory.
