House of the East and the Mediterranean

The House of the East and the Mediterranean (or MOM), with Lyon, has as a field of study the Mediterranean basin and the Middle East, of the first steps of humanity to today. It is dedicated to its founder, the historian Jean Pouilloux.

Created in 1975, its activity is characterized by a largely multi-field work. It employs 350 people: archeologists, epigraphists, historians, with the assistance of physicists, chemists and geologists. Geographers, political economists and architects also collaborate. It is made up of federation of research gathering five mixed units of research (UMR) of CNRS like two other university teams. This federation is under the articles associated with the Université Lyon {{II}} - Light.
