Castle of Vergy
The castle of Vergy, considered impregnable, was located on a rocky outcrop close to Beaune, in Burgundy (common current of Reulle-Vergy, the Pond-Vergy and Curtil-Vergy). The first establishment of a fortress on this place would date from the Roman epoch. Shaved in 1609, it remains about it only little of traces.

The first lord of known Vergy is Guerin (Warin) of Vergy , brother of holy Leger. Ébroïn made it lapidate towards 674 with the foot of the rocky outcrop of Vergy, little time before the martyr of its brother.

The first house of Vergy would however occur at the 9th century with Warin Ier de Vergy , or Guerin, (760 - >819), which was count de Chalon and of Mâcon, then count d' Auvergne (818).-
