House of Verdurier

The house of Verdurier is a monument of the downtown area of Limoges, located very close to the college Gay-Lussac.

Short presentation

The house of Verdurier was built in 1919 by Roger Gonthier, architect of the Gare of the Benedictines and the central markets. Building of octagonal plan, it is built out of reinforced concrete and is decorated mosaics and stoneware by the house Nice-Bourdet of Boulogne-Billancourt. Interior decorations are signed of the painter limougeaud Léonard Chigot.

Originally gone covered, then refrigerating house, it is yielded to the commune two years after its construction, and since 1942 becomes coach station, function which it will keep more than 30 years. Protected and classified, it is restored by the City in 1978 and acquires its function which it occupies nowadays, that of place of exposure
