House of Forest Divonne

History

The house of Forest Divonne is originating in Savoy. The letters patent of Louis XV (1749), setting up the baronnie of Divonne in county, testify to the seniority of the house which " dice Xère century was considerable in Savoie" , where it had the first loads at the court of princes de Savoie.

Dominated by the high wooded walls of the Tooth of the Cat, the stronghold of Forest was staged on the first slopes of the mountain, in the Saint-Jean-of-Hairy North of , and with one mile of Yenne, in a laughing site of small valleys, meadows and wood, orchards and vines, sprinkled by water of Méline. On a height, the residence seigneuriale (Castle of Forest), mutilated with the Revolution, keeps since nearly one millenium the access road to the collar of the Cat.

The first known member of this family is Amédée, lord of Forest, which accompanied in 1110 the count Amédée III by Savoy in Rome for crowning by the emperor by Germany Henri V. Four Forest (Thorens, Berlion, Sigomon and Martin) are pilot with the sale contract of Chambéry in 1232, by Berlion of Chambéry with Thomas, count de Savoie. Their descendants occupied a leading role at the court of Savoy and were illustrated in the army like in the orders.

The house of Forest Divonne became French in 1650 by the marriage of Gilbert of Forest with Jeanne-Francoise de Symond, who made enter Divonne, first baronnie of the Pays of Gex, in the family.
