House of Flora

The house of Flora is an element of the Musée of the Louvre, which formerly formed part of the Palais of Tileries, to Paris.

House Equality

Located at the angle of the palate of Tileries (Seine side), the house of Flora is débaptisé under the French revolution to become the “house of the Equality”.

Committees

Several committees of the revolutionary Gouvernement were installed with the house of Flora, at the time of the national Convention, in particular the committee of the currencies, that Comité of liquidation and examination of accounts, but especially the Comité of public hello.

Each Committee occupied corners and recesses of the vast building without being able to hold all since the Comité of general security, capital in the walk of the capacity, especially when the Terreur was with the day order, was to be satisfied with the hotel of Brionne, established at the edge of the Place of the Carousel. A corridor of boards connected it to the Palais Tileries.

Committee of the Currencies

It was installed at the ground floor, which was inhabited between the October 5th 1789 and the August 10th 1792, by the Princesse of Lamballe.

Committee of liquidation

It occupied, on the first floor, the old apartment of Mrs Elisabeth.

Committee of public hello

Principal committee of the revolutionary Government and more known, it was installed in the apartments of the queen Marie-Antoinette, located at the ground floor of the southernmost part of the Palais of Tileries (against the house of Flora). He also, little by little, gains the apartment of Louis XVI with the mezzanine.

One penetrated there by a staircase giving access to the first two bays, Carousel side, and close to the house of Flora, but the meeting rooms gave on the garden.

The current house

The current house of Flora is a copy of the precedent, demolished under Napoleon III and rebuilt in 1864.
