Houdides
The Houdides or Banu Hud (rear RTL بنوهود), is one of the most important dynasties of Al-Andalus at the time of the period of Taïfas which had as a seat Saragossa. They reigned of 1039 with 1146.
This Arab family of Yemeni origin made go up her line with the prophet Houd. They came in Spain at time from the Moslem invasion with Palestinian tribes and Jordan. Founded by Al-Mustain in 1039, they took the control of Saragossa by beating the rival clan, the Toujibides. They occupied a strategic position defending the steps higher than the north of the Iberian peninsula. They were maintained some time opposite the Royaume of Aragon, fighting against the Christian reconquista and the ambitions of the Almoravides. Its members carried the tribal qualifier " Al-Hudhami " and announce themselves by their political success while using of their diplomacy at the same time as of warlike firmness.
They inherited their territories Toujibides which almost entirely included the valley of the Ebre. Ahmad I {{er}} Al-Muqtadir, Yusuf Al-Mutamin, Al-Mustain II and Ahmad ibn Yusuf carried a great interest for the culture and arts. The Aljafería, the residence royal of Ahmed Ier is practically the only Moslem palate still upright in Spain. After its defeat at the time of a battle against the Christians, Abou Jafar Ahmed II Al-Mustain requires the assistance of Almoravides which grant it to him. After the death of the emir, Almoravides impose their hegemony on the successors. In 1086, they carried out a rebellion with small kingdoms against Almoravides which have conquered Saragossa in 1110. The last one representing dynasty died in 1146 at the time of an insurrection against Almoravides.
