Hothead Paisan: Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist is a series of Comic the United States, devoted to a character of lesbian Terroriste.
Genesis of work
The character of Hothead Paisan was created in 1991, whereas its auteure, Diane DiMassa (born in the United States in 1959), was in detoxification therapy. It decided to express its anger against the patriarchal company and sexist in which it lived through a character of avenger lesbian.Summary
Hothead Paisan is a young lesbian with the character foaming, always ready with mitrailler or to cut of pieces the men who badger and violent one of the women. She lives with a cat, Chicken, which provides a more tender and merry counterpoint, just like the scenes with her friend plugs Roz, a more tolerant lesbian, and Daphne with which she falls in love.Hothead makes aggressions and attacks as soon as she sees aggressions against the women, avenging the victims for the machism and the sexism, and horrifying certain subjected women. She is opposed to her Roz friend, who reject violence, and to Suzette, a bisexual friend. At one time, it removes the authors of a rape, discharged by an obliging jury, torture and mutilates them. Hothead Paisan is however put to sink in the depression and calls into question its own violence. Finally, it meets a young lesbian, Daphne, with which it falls in love and with which it saw a history of love.
Comments
The character makes think of the SCUM Manifesto of Valerie Solanas. Sequences of large a Violence pushed the Canadian customs to classify it " literature of haine". The cartoon however enormously contains oneiric Humor, and sequences inspired by the Surréalisme.
Reception
Through its successive deliveries, Hothead Paisan attracted a women growing in the field underground. Its success was worth to him the publication in the editors Cleis Close in 1996 (two volumes). An integral appeared in 1999 in the same publisher.
Adaptation
The album was adapted in the form of opera by Animal Prufrock, in 2004, with the Michigan Womyn' S Music Festival, with Ani DiFranco in the role of Chicken.
