Hotan

Hotan (or Khotan ), in Mandarin Hetian (和田; Pinyin: Hétián; Ouïghour: خوتەن/Hoten), is a city of the autonomous region Xinjiang in China. It is an city-oasis located between Yarkand (Shache) and Minfeng on the branch of the Silk route which circumvented the Désert of Taklamakan by the south.

Climate

The climate is of continental type dry. The average temperatures go from approximately -3°C for the coldest month to +27°C for the hottest month, with an annual average of 12,9°C, and the Pluviométrie is there of 33  Misters.

Demography

The population of the county was of: 157495 inhabitants in 1999, and that of the town of Hotan was evaluated with: 116728 inhabitants in 2007.
