Hospitalization
The hospitalization is the admission of a patient in a Hospital (hospital or private clinic).
There exist several modes of hospitalization. the general case is that where the patient is addressed by a General doctor or specialist on the basis in a diagnosis; the patient takes appointment, it can go to the hospital by its own means, or in a Ambulance, transport being sometimes taken charges some by the Health insurance.
The patient can also be brought to the Service of reception of the urgencies by a vehicle of help (standard Ambulance, Véhicule of help and assistance to the victims, hospital mobile Unité); he can also go there by his own means. See also: emergency Medicine.
There exist other modes of hopspitalisation:
- the Home medical care
- the Hospitalization of day
- the Hospitalization without assent (or “psychiatric internment”): in the countries respecting the Human rights, the hospitalization is normally voluntary; however, there exists procedure of hospitalization forced in the interest of the patient or to protect his entourage, in the cases for which one estimates that the patient is not able to exert his free will.
- the social Hospitalization, that the health care institutions seek to avoid
