The commune is crossed by an affluent of the Gave d' Oloron, the Saleys and by the tributaries of this last, the brook of Beigmau, of Laborde, the arrious of Mondran, Bernata and Laspecès, and Arriougrand.The brook of the Mills, tributary of the Laà, also runs on the commune.

Toponymy
The toponym Hospital-in Orion appears in the forms espitau of Orion (1255, Fors de Béarn), the espitau of Aurion (1334, notaries of Navarrenx), the hospital of Érion Jean Froissart, delivers IV), the Ordering of Aurion (1537, reformation of Béarn) and Holy-Marie-Mafdaleine of Hospital d' Orion (1620, insinuations of the diocese of Oloron).
History
Paul Raymond note that in 1385, Hospital-in Orion counted 27 fires and depended on the Bailliage of Sauveterre. The parish was divided later into three districts: the Seven Border , the Hospital and the Commande of the Hospital . The first district depended on the bailliage on Navarrenx, and the two others of that of Larbaig.In 1544, the districts changed jurisdiction again, the Seven Border pertaining to the bailliage of Sauveterre, and the two others, with that of Montestrucq.
