Horst Seehofer

Horst Seehofer , born on July 4th, 1949 with Ingolstadt, is a German politician member of the Christian woman-social Union in Bavaria (CSU). It is since 2005 vice-president of the CSU and federal minister for Agriculture.

Career

Appointed with the the Bundestag dà to start from 1980, Seehofer is federal minister for Health in the cabinets Kohl IV and V.

From 1998 to 2004, he is vice-president of the Groupe CDU/CSU at the Bundestag before resigning for personal divergence concerning a point of the reform of the social security which he negotiated in the name of the CDU/CSU with social democrat the Ulla Schmidt, federal minister for the Health of the Cabinet Schröder II.

November 22nd, 2005, it becomes federal minister for the Food, the Agriculture and the Consumer protection in the Cabinet Merkel. It also becomes with the autumn 2005 vice-president of the CSU, posts to which it is re-elected in September 2007 after being beaten with the presidency by Erwin Huber.
