Horst

In Geology geomorphology, a horst indicates a compartment remained high between Graben S, and bordered by Faille S normals. One opposes to it the term Graben, which indicates the lowered compartments. These structures are found in the extensive contexts, like the dorsal of the fast type (for example the dorsal of the Pacific), the Rift S or the passive margins.
For example, the the Vosges and the Black Forest are horsts which border the grabben of the the Rhine, in the north of Basle.
