Horace Slughorn

Horace Slughorn (name remained unchanged in French) is a very former professor of potion and director of Serpentard, which officiated before Severus Rogue. Dumbledore seeks to draw it from its retirement in the volume 6, on the one hand to occupy the place of professor, on the other hand to extract a memory to him where he explains to Voldemort how to become immortal thanks to the Horcruxe S. This professor lives by procuration, namely that he seeks by all the means to draw the attention of the powerful ones, and to make so that those Ci remember him later. Slughorn is described like very large, small of size, bald person and man with a moustache. Slughorn is one of very rare the Serpentard to be described in a neutral way, even almost positive. It is an exception to malfaisant the stereotype of Serpentard, in favor or sympathizer of Voldemort, hating the moldus and the wizards of half-caste, whose prototype is Drago Malefoy. Slughorn, does not make him discrimination with regard to the wizards who are not thepure one, though Harry feels that it makes an effort on itself for that (if the first of the class are these preferred pupils even of origin moldue, Harry notes that such a thing surprises Slughorn). Although he likes to be side of the powerful ones, there remains honest towards his old friend Albus Dumbledore (though he refuses to engage in the Ordre of the phoenix); he in any case refuses to join with Voldemort, and feels guilty to have spoken to him about the Horcruxe S. Harry Potter obtains finally that he reveals to him the memory of his conversation with Tom Elvis Jedusor (the Voldemort future) on this subject, with great difficulty because shame pushes Slughorn to hide this responsibility. At the time of the increase in power of Voldemort, there remains director of Serpentard and sign always the potions (Séverus Rogue having been appointed director of Poudlard). It takes part in the Battle of Poudlard and faces Voldemort in person at the sides of professor McGonagall and Kingsley Shacklebolt.
