Hopman Cup

The Hopman Cup , baptized thus in homage to the champion Harry Hopman, is a test of Tennis which is held each year, at the end of December - at the beginning of January, with Perth in Australia in the Burswood Entertainment Complex .

Registered with the calendar of ITF, the first edition was held in December 1988 - January 1989.

The results of the participants not entering the calculation of the classifications WTA and ATP, Hopman Cup can be regarded as a tournament of exhibition.

The test

With the difference in the tournaments Professional S disputed in the world, reserved either to the women, or to the men, Hopman Cup is the only competition proposing a mixed table, in addition to the four tests of the Grand Slam.

In order to attract a maximum of heads of posters, the budgets appreciably increased with the time (a million American dollars in 2007, including 25% for the only winners).

The edition 2008, twentieth, will be in theory the last organized with the Burswood Entertainment Complex .
